Baritone

Manufactured by the J. Higham Company , Manchester England
Circa: 1899 (Very Rare)
Joseph Higham was an English instrument manufacturer who established a workshop in 1842 in Manchester, England. His workshop supplied instruments to the army and navy, and also for export. By 1893 the firm advertised as having produced over 46,000 instruments. His workshop employed over 90 workers in the late-19th century.
The patina on this Baritone is the original and has been accruing for 126 years. I decided to keep the patina instead of removing it. I have sprayed 4 coats of clear lacquer on it to protect it. It would be wonderful to have known the people and countries that this instrument has experienced.
The entire copper base has been rapped around the instrument (to keep the original in tact) and the copper spirals have been meticulously attached with industrial hot glue.
This sculpture is also a Bluetooth Speaker.
The speaker sits on a leather cup inside the bell , under the large copper spiral and the sound is unbelievable. This creation is a show stopper.
