Playing in the Round

Piano Key Wall Sculpture

A spectacular fusion of music, motion, and sculpture—designed to turn an ordinary wall into a conversation piece.

Playing in the Round is a dramatic, three-dimensional wall sculpture created from 28 individual piano action mechanisms, carefully arranged in a circular pattern to create the appearance of a musical explosion radiating outward from the center.

Each piano action has been positioned and angled to add depth, dimension, and movement. The alternating arrangement of black and white piano keys creates a striking visual rhythm, while the natural wood tones of the piano components add warmth and character. From across the room, the sculpture resembles a giant musical sunburst; up close, the intricate mechanical details of the individual piano actions invite you to stop and explore every element.

At the center is a handcrafted copper spiral, which serves as the visual focal point of the sculpture while concealing a Bluetooth speaker underneath. This means Playing in the Round isn't simply inspired by music—it can actually bring music into the room.

The sculpture is built on a 17.5-inch round black wooden backing, which includes a keyhole hanger on the back for easy wall installation. The 28 piano action sculptures extend outward approximately 10 inches from the wall, creating an impressive three-dimensional presentation.
